Q1. Do you have a storefront? Can I stop by and pick up freshly baked goods?
A. No, I work out of my home and I only provide custom orders that are baked to order.
Q2. Where are you located?
A. In Lewisville, between IH-35 and Business 121.
Q3. Is it legal to have a home food business?
A. Yes! As of September 1, 2011, the Texas Cottage Food Law went into effect. This law allows the sale of home baked goods, with restrictions and guidelines I must follow to legally operate. I also have my Texas Certified Food Handler License as well as a Certificate of Completion in a voluntary Safe Food Handling Course for Cottage Food Operators. Please check out the Texas Cottage Food Law website and continue to support legal home bakeries.
Q4. Do you offer anything else other than cookies?
A. Yes! I know my website is filled with decorated sugar cookies but we have expanded our menu to include other scrumptious treats, such as, cookie cakes, cupcakes, cake balls, cake pops, and cakes. I hope you consider Tempting you Sweetly for all your delicious treats, you won't be disappointed!
Q5. Do you offer allergy free items?
A. Tempting you Sweetly bakes and decorates in a kitchen where nuts, gluten, and dairy products are used. If you have an allergy to any of these items, it is not recommended that you consume any baked goods from Tempting you Sweetly. If you have any questions or concerns about the ingredients used, please contact me so I can personally answer your questions.
Q6. How much notice do you need for an order?
A. It would be nice to be given notice as far in advance as possible so that I may plan for your order accordingly. For traditional cookies, cupcakes, cake balls, cake pops, at least 48-72 hours notice is appreciated. For custom decorated sugar cookies and cakes, a 2 week notice is needed. Because these are custom orders, time is needed to bake and hand decorate these items. And depending of the complexity of the design, more or less time may be needed. I am a small business and can only accept a limited number of orders throughout the week. This allows me to give each request the attention to detail they deserve.
Q7. Do I need to pay a deposit?
A. I require a 50% non-refundable deposit for all work. This is to ensure that your event is scheduled on my cookie calendar and that I am able to purchase all required materials, ingredients, and complete any prep work. Deposits are not 100% refundable. A portion equal up to 50% is non-refundable, with the remainder subject to the following factors: date of cancellation, materials purchased, and work completed prior to cancellation.
Q8. Can I just order a couple of baked treats?
A. For traditional cookies and cupcakes, the minimum order is 1 dozen. The minimum order for Cake Pops/Cake Balls are 1/2 a dozen. For decorated sugar cookies, if you're ordering 6 cookies or less, you will be charged a per cookie price. Per cookie prices start at $3.50 and will increase based on the complexity of the design. Custom cakes are made to order and at the request of Customers. We do not keep dough, cake mixes, or frozen cakes on hand for small, quick orders. Everything is made to order to ensure my customer's receive fresh quality goods.
Q.9 Why do I have to schedule a pick up time, since you work out of your home, can't I just swing by at my convenience to pick up my order?
A. Tempting you Sweetly is a cottage food bakery, which does mean I bake out of my home. This has allowed me to offer great items, and still be home with my family. My family time is very important. I ask that Customers schedule a pick up time with me so time with my family isn't interrupted. I also ask that you please arrive on time to pick up your order. I, of course, understand things can happen and I can be flexible if needed. If you will need your order early or you are running late, call or text!
Q10. Do you deliver?
A. Yes, for orders of 2 dozen or more but payment must be made at my home prior to the event date. Delivery is free within a 10 mile radius of my home. Anything outside of that area, the delivery fee will be calculated according to the 2015 IRS Standard Mileage Rate. It currently is 57.5 cents per mile.
